How can I help you?
The importance of keeping the new mother warm
Giving birth is an important rite of passage, after which the baby leaves an empty space in the mother’s belly. The previously increased blood quantity also goes back to a „one-person” system. Therefore in many traditional cultures the postpartum period is considered a cold state. In order to balance this out and to help the mother heal as soon as possible keeping her warm is essential. The warmth also increases the level of natural oxitocin in the blood flow, thus supporting the new mother and baby in getting to know each other and establishing a successful breastfeeding journey.
The role of nutrition in the postpartum healing
In almost all traditional cultures around the world, including the Hungarian and the Moroccan, it is essential to make sure that the new mother eats nourishing food and drinks plenty of water. These are key elements of the postpartum healing. It is important that the meals eaten by the new mother are easy to digest but contain lots of nutrients and if possible consumed warm. Light warm meals are much easier to digest, therefore the body can utilize the extra life-force to heal the body after birth. The cooked soft bites also have a practical advantage: they are much easier and quicker to consume than a raw salad for example. Ideally all meals are freshly cooked at home and not prepared by the new mother, so she can rest. This is not always easy though.
How it looks like in practice
I can help you out with this as well. I can prepare some meals in your home or I can even cook them ready. At The Nafsa Project School I got to know lots of traditional Moroccan recipes that are beneficial in the postpartum period. Of course I can prepare other types of meal too, also dairy-free and vegan options are available.
Since cooking can be quite time-consuming, usually it takes up a separate visit.
